Clear aligners are custom made plastic trays worn over the teeth to shift them into the desired position gradually. They should be worn for a minimum of 22 hours a day, only removed when eating, drinking and brushing, and changed every 1 or 2 weeks according to your treatment plan or doctor’s reccomendation. The duration of treatment with clear aligners depends on the case and could be as short as 4 months for simple cases but it can take longer for complex cases.

Well, the reasons are endless! Clear aligners are nearly invisible, comfortable, convenient, and highly effective. You can enjoy any meal without any restrictions, just by simply removing them at meal times.

The process starts with a consultation with an British Aligner doctor and taking a 3D scan or impression of your teeth, followed by creation of a custom treatment plan by British Aligner. Once the treatment plan is approved, your clear aligners will be manufactured and delivered to your doctor.

Clear aligners were originally invented for adult patients, but with the advancements in technology, it can now be used for all ages. Clear aligners can treat a range of mild to advanced cases and this depends on the expertise of the treating doctor and the severity of the case.

When using clear aligners, as with any orthodontic treatment, expect some initial discomfort and irritation that should subside within a few days. Your speech may be affected temporarily, but will improve as you get used to them.

Wear your clear aligners for a minimum of 22 hours daily and remove them only to eat, drink, brush or floss.  Store them in a clean protective case when not in use.

If you lose an aligner, contact your British Aligner doctor promptly for a replacement, use your previous step to maintain your teeth’s alignment and follow your doctor’s instructions to minimize impact on the treatment plan and duration.

After your clear aligner treatment is finished, a final fitting for retainers will be done to maintain your new smile. As with all orthodontic treatments, wearing your retainers is crucial. The length of time for retainer wear varies per patient and doctor’s reccomendation.

If you are worried about your progress, you should discuss it with your treating doctor. Your doctor will assess your progress and adjust the treatment plan if needed. Additional treatment may be required for desired results, such as extra aligners. Your doctor will guide the best course of action.
